Role Summary
The Director of Engineering is responsible for overseeing and supporting the Engineering Managers and will report to the Vice President of Engineering. The Director of Engineering is accountable for ensuring the safe and high-quality execution of multiple projects at one time.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Plans and coordinates the work of engineering staff.
- Oversees engineering staff and ensures that they meet goals and objectives.
- Recruits additional engineering staff as needed.
- Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive.
- Provides training and mentoring as needed.

Duties/Responsibilities:
- Consults with Chief Technical Officer to create long-range operating and manufacturing goals specific to the needs of the organization.
- Develops new products from concept to testing to production.
- Lead the engineering team and provide technical guidance and mentorship to team members.
- Oversees progress and timeliness of projects.
- Reviews project reports to ensure projects are on schedule and within budget.
- Performs other related duties as required.
- Provide steady and reliable communication.
- Identifies, recommends, and implements new technologies and systems to improve organizational processes and decision-making.
- Ensures that departmental decisions such as staffing, development, organization, hardware acquisitions, and facilities are in line with the organization’s business plan and vision.
- Establishes, communicates, and implements engineering and development policies, practices, standards, and security measures to ensure effective and consistent operations.
- Oversees the preparation and final approval of project plans.
- Establishes and implements the strategic direction of the company’s engineering and development initiatives.
- Collaborate with other department heads to ensure that engineering is aligned with the company’s overall strategy.
- Identify potential problems and corrective actions that need to be implemented on current and future work in a timely manner.

- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelors degree in Engineering required; Masters degree in Engineering or Business Administration preferred.
- At least ten years of related experience required.
- MS Projects and Smartsheet experience preferred.
