The Electrical CAD Technician will join the SunGrid North American engineering team.  The hybrid role will be based in Calgary, Alberta.  This position will be responsible for providing electrical design, and modelling capabilities for renewable energy construction projects in the large commercial & industrial, and utility sectors. This position requires an individual with 2-3 years of experience who can work independently, from conceptual studies to final designs certified for construction. The candidate must be able to prioritize and organize their own workload to meet agreed upon schedules within the quoted budget. Minimum education requirements, completion of relevant technology program from an accredited institution.

Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Generate new electrical drawings and revise existing drawings of basic components.
• Prepare and revise 2D site drawings and plans.
• Create complex two-dimensional electrical component drawings and electrical schematics, wiring diagrams and harnesses.
• Create advanced two-dimensional electrical assembly and installation drawings from models.
• Responsible for complying with existing company and client drafting standards and procedures.
• Responsible for documenting and controlling drawing revision history, both on drawings, and on the network and/or cloud repository.
• Responsible for accuracy of written content, and for consistency of naming conventions used throughout drawing packages.
• Expected to attend and participate in project meetings as deemed necessary by the PM.
• Participate in drafting design and documentation for various projects as assigned.
• Take initiative to research solutions and/or make recommendations on obstacles and/or roadblocks.
• Responsible for communicating ideas verbally and in writing, which includes drawing markups and/or illustrations to communicate concepts quickly during video conference calls.
• Expected to participate in skills/tools training, either individually or in a group setting
• All other duties as assigned or as deemed necessary by changing business and/or client needs.
